I don’t usually open a review with facts from an artist’s website, but I wanted to give you all a taste of an Aussie artist who has achieved all of this yet seems to be floating under the radar.
Some people think that it may be too early for Bryce to be recording a compilation album. Consider folks like Melinda Schneider, Troy Cassar-Daley, Darren Colston, Paul Kelly, etc who waited years to do that. Kasey Chambers still hasn’t. I actually think it is perfect timing, because Bryce has done so much and such a variety – songs that I have forgotten or never knew about – and I’m a fan!
This is a good first way to be introduced to Bryce if you don’t know his work at all or only know his more poppy songs.
I actually was quite astonished, there’s some stuff here that makes me even love him more! Plus he looks like Adam Harvey Jnr in some pics here and that puts a smile on my dial!
Yes he does a fair bit of country pop, country rock but he can be soulful, bluesy, and he has a voice with such a range that it is just so appealing to many audiences and tastes.
This is a great move – let everybody know all of the things that you can do on one hit. He has worked and toured with a lot of folks. I normally wouldn’t recommend this bold move but in this case, it is spot on.
He ends the album with what I consider his best. Everything. An appropriately named song, because that is exactly what he gives on this album.
